Women & Justice

Originally an online database of case summaries reflecting gender issues from around the globe, our Women & Justice project has grown into a larger and more impactful effort. Under the guidance of international human rights lawyer and adjunct law professor Jocelyn Hackett the collection has grown to include significant collections of primary materials such as treaties, conventions, etc. The project is currently led by Nichole McCarthy, Director of Student Research and Content Development.

Students working for our Women & Justice Project over the last several years have also found themselves with the opportunity to make significant contributions in the field. They researched and assisted with authoring sections of an evidence benchbook for judges in Africa, created nation-by-nation guides to the implementation of the death penalty, and even had the chance to travel to Africa to conduct citizen interviews supporting research on public understanding of the law in particular jurisdictions.
